The photo shows the picturesque landscape of the Bieszczady Mountains, where hills covered in a palette of autumn colors and densely forested valleys stretch out. A river winds in the central part, creating natural boundaries between forested areas and green meadows. In the distance, you can see mountain ranges that gently transition into the sky with a delicate blue hue. The entire scene emanates peace and wild beauty, characteristic of the Bieszczady landscapes.

The Bieszczady Mountains are about 25 million years old. Before they were uplifted, the Bieszczady Mountains were part of the bottom of the prehistoric Tethys Ocean. Today, the Bieszczady Mountains are divided into the Western Bieszczady (partly on the Polish side) and the Eastern Bieszczady (entirely in Ukraine). People have lived in the Bieszczady Mountains since at least the Neolithic period. The first major expansion of Poles into these areas occurred during the reign of Casimir the Great.
