The Pieniny pine, known as the dwarf pine or the Skolim pine, is one of the most recognizable trees in Poland. Growing on the top of Sokolica in the Pieniny Mountains, it has a characteristic, twisted shape that gives it a unique appearance. This tree, a symbol of the Pieniny National Park, has survived many decades, battling harsh weather conditions. Its age is estimated at around 500 years, making it a living witness to the history of this region. This pine is often photographed and is an inspiration for artists and nature lovers.
It is worth adding that in 2018, during a rescue operation, the pine was partially damaged, but thanks to the efforts of specialists, it was saved and is still an important element of the Pieniny landscape.
